Things we love about our home
Until we purchased our home, we didn't realize how amazing it is to have an East-West lot.
The sunset view from The North Shore Mountains to Metrotown. Watching the Sun set in a different position each day following the seasons moving south in the fall and then back up north in the spring. We love the silhouette of the mountains on Vancouver Island, and the city lights of downtown.
The breeze being up on the hill. When we come home on a hot summer day and open up the doors, the whole house cools off quickly with beautiful fresh air, sometimes we can smell the ocean.
We love the garden and that there are so many different sitting areas, from the front yard when looking to seek afternoon shade, to the back decks and vegetable gardens when you want more sun. It feels like a much larger home because of all the different areas to enjoy.
We love the huge family room upstairs, which gives the kids and their friends a place to play freely, while adults are socializing downstairs. It also doubles as a guest room for out of town visitors. And although we had plans to turn it into a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, we’ve found that having this big multi-purpose room has served us well.
We love walking into the living room in spring, when the front window “frames” the garden like a photograph. With everything in bloom it’s gorgeous. The front garden is also very private, so sitting on the couch no one can see in the windows.
LOVE the house lit up at Christmas! It looks like a gingerbread house, very festive.
We love the Location!!!!! Close enough to walk to shops and the best park in Burnaby, with every Amenity you can imagine. From the train at rainbow creek station, to the library, pool, skate park, dog park, water park, lawn bowling, hiking trails and picnic area. Confederation Park has it all!
The kids School. Such a great little community of awesomeness! We have made so many quality friends there, and any kids living in this house will be lucky to attend Confederation Park School. It’s an Art Based School which focuses on learning through the arts. We couldn’t have been luckier to land there, and would never consider moving if it wasn’t to the Island.
This house is solid, built well with little worries. Everything has been so well maintained and we have had no surprises in the last 6 years.
We love that this house can grow and change with an ageing family. The stairs can easily be put back in to make this a one family dwelling, (one day job and the stairs are tucked away in the storage room). Or continue renting the suite to help with the mortgage.
The obvious charm! Little details you can’t get anymore. We love the floors, glass doors, built ins, exterior details and general feeling of this home.
Loads of storage.
The abundant pear tree and our hybrid apple tree with 3 different types of apples!
The impressive, well designed, mature garden where different things bloom at different times all spring summer and fall.
We also love how bright & charming the garden level suite is.
