Hi Jodie,

I know I haven't been in touch much this year -- our baby girl has kept us busy! But I wanted to reach out to you today to simply say thank you for your support -- particularly over the past few months. Over the holiday season, I had time to reflect on the year -- both about my personal life and about all that has happened at Backpack Buddies.
I've always known that it takes a small village of people to raise a child, but this year really brought that home for me. And while I am so grateful for all of the ways people stepped up to support us with our daughter, I'm even more blown away with the way people like you stepped up to support children across Metro Vancouver through Backpack Buddies -- children you don't even know. Well, I do know a lot of these children and I can tell you that they are some of the most vulnerable in our communities. They have a threadbare safety net under them. Through your support and encouragement, you have acknowledged that parents can't raise kids all on their own -- we all need a little bit of help sometimes. Whether it's with a bag of food for the weekend, babysitting, or just a listening ear -- it truly does take a small village.
So this note is simply to say, thank you for being a part of our "village" here at Backpack Buddies -- it means the world.
